More Hand-beaded Sewing Projects

Hi Creative People,

As a continuum of my last post about Minnie Mouse, I thought I should share with you guys the other items I created and the process. Leave any questions or comments, enjoy!

One of my favorite printed patterns is paisley, so when I was bitten by the 'hand-beading bug' I figured I would try my hand at a paisley applique. This is what I came up with, at this point in the design, looking back...I think I should have stopped at the royal blue cup sequins, but I then decided to add these blue oblong shaped beads.

Then, the design looked bigger than I thought and it looked unfinished around the edges. So, instead of removing the long beads, I decided to keep going and add more beads to finish the edges around the long beads...

After completing the edging...I forgot to add the part that makes the paisley design unique. This is my attempt to making an hand-beaded paisley applique and I won't do this again or at least use the beads I chose. I don't feel I used the best shaped beads to get the look I was going for and since I kept adding beads, I feel it's too big now!

Considering this is my first attempt at making a hand-beaded paisley design, I like it. I then just cut carefully around the design and backed it with the same felt material I sewed the design on. Here is the finished product cut out.

Some years ago, when it was in style to wear bustiers and bras as outerwear, I used to re-design bras by adding sequins and beads. I liked that look and I have been seeing it come back into style so, I decided to cover this bra for my daughter.

I started thinking of a design and wanted to incorporate the chevron design in this bra. I used black thread to outline where I wanted the sequins to lay. I made sure to stay inside the lines with the sequins as I hand stitched them on.

The next section is when I changed colors to red sequins. By the way, my daughter requested her bra to be colored red and silver sequins, the next section I used red sequins.

My daughter tried on the bra, but I still need to cover the shoulder straps and cover the back connecting straps.

I don't have a completed picture of this bra because I had not completed the shoulder straps yet, I will post a picture when I do. I did not want this post to be as long as it is, so I will just be posting a couple more picture of another applique I worked on. This heart applique design is one I started, finished, and I can't begin to tell you what I will be doing with this one either! :)

I really enjoyed making these hand-beaded appliques, although, it's time consuming, it's really relaxing. I will be making more and updating you as I make more designs. Sorry about the long post, I hope you guys enjoy.
Thanks for reading! Happy Sewing!
