Workshops

Because products and services within the sewing industry are ever changing and creative needs are in constant demand, Sewing Treasures will hold numerous workshops throughout the year to meet those demands and keep current and former students abreast of any and all changes. The following workshops and their descriptions are not a comprehensive list:

  • Time saving Sewing Techniques-in this workshop, students will learn how to reduce their sewing time in half. When faced with multiple projects, there are numerous techniques to consider before getting started. 
  • Recycle/Repair Your Wardrobe- in this workshop students will be shown various creative ideas to spruce up their wardrobe. Students are encouraged to bring their clothing items with them and we will work on them during the workshop.
  • Home Decorating Workshop- learn how to make valances, slipcovers for couches, chairs, blankets, and throw pillows to give any room a new look.
  • Mother’s Day Gifts- in this workshop work on a beautiful gifts for mom, family or friends with beautiful hand-created gifts.
  • Father’s Day Gifts- create a multi-purposed wallet or make a nice necktie or handkerchief or many other gift ideas for that special dad in your life.
  • Sewing for Special Occasions-learn techniques for working with specialty fabrics like laces, netting, satin, chiffon, and silks, just to name a few. Learn special hemming techniques and special seams such as princess seams for prom dresses, wedding dresses, and evening gowns. This workshop is designed for the intermediate to advanced sewer.
  • Children Sewing Treasures Workshop –in this monthly four hour workshop for children ages 8-10, children create beautiful, easy, hand and/or machine sewn 'treasures' for themselves family or friends. This workshop is scheduled four hours longs to allow parents to run their Saturday errands while their child has creative time with new friends. For this workshop only, all materials and a light healthy snack will be served (Please disclose child food allergies on the Medical & Liability Release form at the time of registration).
  • Get to Know Your Sewing Machine Workshop- in this monthly 2 hour workshop, students will be encouraged to bring their own sewing machines and we will go over the logistics of all the fun things the machine can do for them. Also, all the available machine feet on the market to create new and exciting projects.

Students must be at a sewing skill level as advanced before taking the workshops or advanced sewing classes however this rule does not apply to the Children’s workshop. Please review the Skill Level Indicator below; I have created this indicator to help you determine where you are in your 'learning how to sew goals'!
