Re-upholstered Foot Stool

Hi Guys,

I attended my best friends annual art party this past June and really enjoyed myself! This annual art party is designed to allow guest to bring their unfinished projects with them to complete during the art party. Extra supplies that may be needed for different projects are available per guests requests. This art party concept is a lot of fun because there are a lot of creative projects in process and not only that, this is where you allow yourself time to finally complete any projects that may have been looming about in your head. In addition to all the creative fun, there are great refreshments and even better fellowship with family an friends.

This year, I was in the process of moving and did not have access to any of my uncompleted projects. So, my girlfriend was more than happy to provide me with one of her projects. She provided all the materials, here is the picture before I covered the foot stool:

I did not take any photos of me going through the entire process, but I can take you through the steps. One of the first things I did was remove the cushion part from the legs. Then, I took the back cover off the bottom of the cushion by removing the staples.

My girlfriend provided this beautiful African mud-cloth fabric that she purchase a while ago. I used this fabric to cover the foot stool by stapling it over the old vinyl material. I put the white covering back over the pillow backing and attached the legs.

This is the final project, this turned out really cute. I would have loved to take this home, although it does not go with anything in my home. My girlfriend loved it! It was the first time I did a light upholstery job like this and it has given me the confidence to try more easy projects like this. I hope you enjoyed reading. Contact me if you have any questions.
Happy Sewing!
