Greetings Creative People,
I have been super busy creating sample products for my businesses that I have ignored my wardrobe! I decided to carve some time out for me to do some sewing projects for myself and I wanted to share those with you.
A while ago, I started my own personal
"Pattern Sew Through Challenge". This is where I chose several projects I want to create for myself and make them and share them with you. This simply just forces me to use all the patterns that I purchased for myself during Jo Ann's pattern sales. I wrote more about my pattern sew through challenge a while ago, you can read more about it
here.
I have completed one project, I don't have any progress pictures, but here is the pattern and the completed garment:

I enjoyed sewing this peplum style kimono although I did not enjoy the fabric with my Serger. The fabric is a sheer paisley printed fabric with the a gold sheen, it's really pretty. I found out the hard way, that my Serger hates this fabric because my seams were chewed off with every Serged stitch. I changed the settings, tensions and even the needle and the same thing kept happening!! Ugh! so, I scrapped using my Serger and went back to using my basic sewing machine and she turned out great.
I have not started these projects, I just pulled out the fabrics from my stash last night, but this is what I will be working on:
 |
Simplicity 8514-View A-Curvy: I will be making 2 of these pants with both of the fabrics in the photo. I am sorry it'a hard to see the picture, but the pants have a pin-tuck design down the front for a permanent crease, 6" zippers on the bottom of the slim leg pants and it has a bias waist binding with a 7" invisible zipper closure. |
 |
Simplicity 8607-View A- in the upper right hand corner. |
 |
Simplicity 8607-View A: I will be making the shirt only with slight design changes. I will be shortening the sleeves to a three-quarter length sleeve and changing the boat neck into a v-neck. I love the asymmetric hem on this shirt. The fabric is a lightweight rayon fabric with will flow beautifully with is design top. |

McCall's MP235-View A- I will be using the fabric shown in the photo and making this shirt in View A (in the center on the left) without using the pompom trim. I love the view the model is wearing however, I am not tall nor slim and I figured the ruffles around the sleeves and hem would not be as attractive on me as it is on her. |
 |
McCall's M7356-View A-I will be making two of these tops using the fabrics in the photo. One fabric is a lightweight cotton with glitter stars and the other one is an animal print lightweight polyester. Although the pattern calls for piping to be used in view A, I will not be using piping considering I don't need added detail to front seams. |
These are the projects I will start working on real soon, as in my process, I will have a day whereas, I cut all my patterns out of each pattern, house them in a large Ziploc bag with all the notions needed to complete the garment. Hopefully, I will remember to take pictures of the process and share my progress with you, apparently I have a hard time remembering to even post on my blog :)... This time, I am not making any promises, but I hope to share these projects with you. Feel free to contact me via email if you have any questions or comments. Thanks for stopping by! Happy sewing!!
