Organizing Your Sewing Projects

Greetings Creative People,

If you are thinking of joining me on my sewing journey, I have three suggestions that I believe will help you along the way.
  • Organize, Organize, & Organize!!
Organizing is one, if not the only, way to ensure you will meet your goals. I am not the most organized person in the world and I forget plenty of things, so my constant focus is to stay organized and write things down, especially since I am always concerned about "forgetting something".

If you have read my previous posts regarding my Pattern Sew Through Challenge, you will know that I break down the steps I have to take to complete my projects. This helps me because of my schedule as a full-time working, single mother of two...do I need to say more! LOL! Anyway, I thought perhaps if there are others out there like me, you could use some suggestions on how I laid out my 'plan of attack'. I planned everything out in a 5 phases...this information is as follows:

Also, when I have chosen my patterns, I felt it necessary to kept track and write down all the notions I need to complete the project. Although, I originally just wrote on a piece of paper, I decided to create a form to help with my future projects. I wanted to keep track of the pattern company and number; which view I decided to make; who I was making the project for; the required fabrics in either width; the required notions; and I included other things I ususally forget, like whether I need lining or interfacing. There was enough space on the page to include lines for any notes about the pattern I may want to include. Although, I did not carve out a space for a picture of the pattern, I believe that would be a good addition, but for right now this form works...
